You guys might remember that last summer I did SUP yoga on the river in New Braunfels (https://livinwiththelehnhoffs.com/2013/08/03/sup-yoga/ & https://livinwiththelehnhoffs.com/2013/08/04/sup-yoga-2/) and yesterday I had the unique opportunity to attend a yoga workshop at Lifetime Fitness to learn some acro yoga for the first time! Acro yoga is a blend of yoga elements, partner acrobatics, performance and healing arts. You have a base and a flier (and a spotter). It’s not everyday that I find myself in a situation that makes me slightly uncomfortable and pushed outside of my comfort zone and acro yoga was a welcomed and exciting challenge! I think there is always something that we can learn about ourselves when we dare to go someplace uncomfortable and unfamiliar. It was a wonderfully empowering experience involving trust on multiple levels. I have to say, if you have a friend or family member who is really into fitness and loves new physical challenges, acro yoga lessons may be a gift to consider giving them! And San Antonio peeps, we’re in luck because we have a studio here that has them (Mark and Jen from The District taught the acro part of our workshop and they were seriously amazing teachers and super cool people). Check them out: http://thedistrictsa.com/. I haven’t been yet, but the facility sounds awesome – they have rock climbing, yoga, acro yoga, aerial silks yoga (which I also want to try), crossfit, circus arts and much more! Here’s a beautiful acro youtube video that The District’s website links to: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bMMlzQsQPk4.
And here are a couple pics from my class yesterday. It really was such a treat and so fun! I can’t wait to make Scott play some acro with me later! I want him to fly high! And I also hope to visit The District for some classes sometime! I’ll keep y’all posted!
PS. This totally reminds me – I need to do another Sadhana update one of these days (https://livinwiththelehnhoffs.com/2014/05/23/want-to-change-your-life/ & https://livinwiththelehnhoffs.com/2014/06/09/sadhana-update/)!
