There’s been a lot of bad things happening in our nation and world lately. And with each horrific headline, I’m brought back to my all time favorite quote, spoken by Mahatma Gandhi: Be the change that you wish to see in the world. These are words that I have chosen to strive to live my life by, and now even more so than ever, I feel they are one of the ways in which humanity can come together to make significant positive progress. Rewind to a little over a year ago during my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (read more yoga related posts here), ironically I created something that fits “being the change” quite well! During the program, we were assigned a Karma Project and I chose to make a cute little booklet that fits in the palm of your hand that I call a Karma Kalendar. Basically, it’s a guide of random acts of kindness and assigns the reader monthly tasks. Of course there are no set rules and the individual can always change it up as they so desire. I also acknowledge that some of the activities cost money, and so I encourage you to set up a Karma Kalendar Piggy Bank for spare change to use for this. Additionally, I have consigned clothing etc and used the proceeds to fund my Karma Kalendar activities as well. It’s a great exercise to do with kids too. We can and should do nice things for our fellow human beings without expecting anything in return. Anyhow, I was cleaning my closet today and I found a handful of the Karma Kalendars that I thought I would give away! The first 10 people to contact me will receive one! In the comments section, please be sure to include your mailing address so that I can send it to you. And speaking of treating the people around us with love, isn’t it funny that I just heard myself quote one of our favorite bedtime story books, and told Rex (2 year old), “hands are not for hitting!” Haha! But in all seriousness, it starts at home, yall!
Love and Light, Megan
What a beautiful gesture. I would love to get a copy of your book! I don’t want to leave my address in the comments section, however, so I will message you instead!
